Your continued membership in IETA is important to us. It allows the Toronto community to maintain its degree of significance in dealings with the various regulatory bodies and affiliate associations. The annual membership fee remains unchanged at $250 – please note that all memberships expire on May 31 annually.

IETA has four categories of membership:
Regular Members are individuals who are regularly engaged or employed as an “Institutional Equities Trader” in the investment, securities or banking business or industry for at least one (1) continuous year, whether or not with the same organization. (i) whose primary function is the trading of equities at an institutional level, (ii) who have performed that function for at least one continuous year, and (iii) who have been a member of the IETA for at least one full year.

Institutional Equity Trader shall mean a person who regularly makes commitments for or executes orders in securities on behalf of a firm with other dealers, brokers and/or institutions.
Provisional Members are individuals (i) whose primary function is the trading of equities at an institutional level and who have performed that function for less than one continuous year, (ii) who trade equities from time to time at an institutional level but whose primary function is not the trading of equities at an institutional level, or (iii) who assist institutional equity traders.
As a provisional member, you are entitled to full participation in all IETA activities and functions with the exception of voting or holding office as a Board member. This provisional status is effective for your first year of membership and continues until such time as you meet the criteria of regular membership.
Restrictions of number of Provisional Members: the number of provisional members shall at no time exceed twenty (20%) percent of the total Membership of the Corporation, as determined by the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Vendor/Exchange Members are individuals who quality as a “Vendor” or an “Exchange” in the investment, securities or banking business or industry for at least (1) continuous year, whether or not with the same organization.
Restrictions of number of Vendor/Exchange members: The number of Vendor/Exchange Members shall at no time exceed Fifteen (15%) percent of the total membership of the Corporation, as determined by the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
A “Vendor” shall mean an individual who is regularly engaged or employed by a person which supplies services related to the function of securities trading.
An “Exchange” shall mean an individual who is regularly engaged or employed by a person which maintains a marketplace where securities can be traded; or the marketplace itself..
Honourary Members are individuals who are recommended as honourary members by the Board.
